Fotki appears to be back. Autocar Trailer #6

The Autocar fuel tanker project is nearing completion. Got a number of things done since the last post. As you can see the tank is now painted and lettered.

Lots of things done on the back including the bumper, platform step to the top, grab handles, tail lights and two small doors that open to the hose storage area.

Some weathering and dirtying up of the top area helps to bring the tanker to life. I used acrylic flat black and some water to create the look of spilled gas along with some weathering powders on the outside of black and brown.

All of the doors open. After the decals were set and dry over the large doors, the hinge points and door edges were cut with a single edge razor blade. Had to use a bit of artistic license on the markings as it was not easy to find a good source for how they should be done. The only sure thing was that it should include "Gasoline" and "No smoking within 50 feet". The marker lights are simply rings filled with CA, coated with Molotow chrome and then clear red. Same for the taillights except they were covered with a decal after painting that shows the small red lens openings.

The air brake and electric connections were also finished up and the lines are attached. They can be unplugged as well for moving the model around.

Just a few more little things and it will be ready to take on it's first load of gas for Patton's tanks!
