They'd pay contingency money for each one on the car. Maybe even if one for a competing product was on there also...

Tom Carter related the story here, about his own experience with his then-new '69 Cougar. He won Pure Stock eliminator at a major NHRA meet, between the purse and contingencies he won about half of what he'd paid for the car. But he did have to take a day off from work and spend it warming the stickers with a blow dryer so he could peel them off...
