I think you're confused, that tooling has always been the AMT tooling, it was just owned by Lindberg for awhile.

I'm sure someone can fill in the details, but here's the story as I know it.

AMT Brings out the 34 pickup and releases it multiple times.

Lesney (matchbox) purchases AMT and at some point sends the 34 Ford pickup tooling out to a vendor to have it refurbished

Lesney doesn't pay their tab and vendor keeps the tooling.

Lindberg discovers the tooling and takes possession of it from the refurbishing vendor.

Lindberg releases the kit several times.

Round2, owners of the AMT, MPC and several other brands buys Lindberg.

Round2 releases the 34 Ford pickup back under the AMT name where it belongs.

  - Thanks :-) I built the Lindberg long ago and I seem to remember it had thick plastic axles. I didn't like those. I never had the AMT one to compare. *NM*
    - Bruce, the Lindberg release of the AMT '34 tool did have plastic (thin) axle inserts but the tool has always been designed for a steel axle insert like most all early AMT kits. Some of the original AMT kit parts were omitted from the Lindberg releases....more inside
