Try ink pen springs just cut them to length.... I'm done this several times. Not sure what kind of detail your looking for but for me they worked out fine. *NM*
That's what I used several pens for a dollar at the Dollar store. (pic)
also Top Studio, Aber, Yamamoto, also some 3D printed at Shapeways. *NM*

Or if you have any old ho slot cars, they used little springs on the pick-up shoes. *NM*
