1st generation test shot of the AMT Mack B61 tractor.
My example was missing the right lower mirror bracket.
Several things are already being changed from this rendition - but as for buildability, everything went together well. I made some assumptions (no instructions were created yet) while assembling the chassis and engine, there are very tight tolerances for engine mounting and making sure the fan belt and fan are perfectly centered or the fan will contact with the inside of the radiator. I also installed the bumper mounts/frame horns too far back, when I should have made sure they were forward on the mounting tabs, this resulted in my bumper and tow hooks being too close the fenders.
This builds completely differently from past AMT truck kits, for example, the "glass" is thin with the weather stripping detail being part of the glass, and the glass installs flush with the body, not recessed, with a perfectly sized surface to fit the glass in place and apply glue.
My test shot was missing the right lower mirror bracket, so the mirror is sort of hanging there.
I can imagine many variations of the old B being created once the kit gets onto the store shelves.
