It's resin. Fellow MCMA member who does a lot of VW stuff. Don't remember his name or his 'company' he sells from. I have a Type 181/The Thing body from him that I didn't know what to build of, until I saw this *PIC*

Was in an antique mall in north Texas, when I saw an issue of Barracuda magazine . It was in a tape-sealed plastic bag, and the cover blurb had 'Von Dutch's VW Thing" on it

A quick internet search revealed that Von Dutch built a MOTORCYCLE he called the 'Thing' back then--a Harley FL-frame with a VW motor and a '60s vintage Honda gas tank. I was intrigued either way, so I bought the mag for $5. A week later, I found the time to read it. Mild disappointment that it wasn't the bike, but the VW...

Von Dutch modified that VW in a number of weird ways, but still in his inimitable style. WW2 aircraft style seat (only ONE seat--he chose to make the Thing a driver-only cargo hauler!), some odd touches

(BTW, the "big smelly truck" is a reference to another story inside, about owning a crusty F-250...)
