It’s all interesting, but TBH modern NASCAR confuses me a little. They are basically spec cars with absolutely zero in common with anything production, so definitely not “stock cars”. While I understand how they got here (basically safety and parity), it confounds me

…a little that the brand recognition seems to still hold importance to the series, and well, the fans. It’s come so far from its roots that, while I still enjoy watching it because it’s racing, I couldn’t give a hoot about which brand name is painted on the cars.

So while I get it that we may be excited over “Dodge” or “Mopar” being involved, what are Dodge and Mopar these days? A couple of SUVs and one sedan that could be an EV or an ICE vehicle… that won’t even have one body panel in common with anything NASCAR. Even Dodge trucks have been rebranded as Ram (a name which doesn’t resonate with me TBH).

Sorry, don’t mean to sound too negative, but as a lifelong NASCAR fan who has seen it evolve from the late 1960s to what it is today, the brand name stuff seemed to have lost its significance something like 30 or 40 years ago. Still like the racing, though (other than the stages and playoff aspects of it, but that’s another rant… lol). 🙂
