Broader modeling question: Do you prepare a 'build sheet' for your projects? Or just wing it?
no build sheet or advance planning. All the kits in my stash are there with the "intent" to build
No build sheet, even if I'm doing major work... I might have the idea in my head but that's about it. *NM*
I do a build sheet for each of my projects...
No nay never… My build scopes are all in the noggin, and subject to change on a moment’s notice depending upon what I am “into” at the moment that inspiration strikes. For me the hobby is all about emotion and creativity, and that can change over time. Also, for me
Sorry… this was meant to be a response to Ragtop’s original post. *NM*
Mark C., I'm with you. *NM*
I couldn’t say it better myself. This hobby should be fun. If it’s starts feeling like a job, it’s not really a hobby anymore. Of course, some people do get paid to build. If so, then it’s a fun job, not really a hobby IMO. *NM*

This is kinda in that neighborhood - I like it! *NM*
Funny you should bring this up. At the KKIM meeting yesterday, we came across a very detailed build sheet loose in a box, with no idea what kit it would be for. There were clues, but nothing concrete. *NM*
Build sheet, notes, what is needed, what has been aquired, and a sketch plus reference photos. *NM*
On rare occasions I create some type of a build sheet.... Typically though, it actually works out better if I just go with the vision in my head. *NM*
I make notes, paint references, etc. on the instructions mainly because I start everything and finish very few--forget what's been sitting for years. *NM*
Not a build sheet. I get ideas all the time, I'll print a pic of a car or kit to use as a base, and jot down notes of what I want to do (kitbash, body mods, change of parts, etc.) and add it to some folders for whenever I get around to it; sometimes soon, sometimes years...
I think in images, not words when I'm thinking up a new build. Written notes are of no use to me. . *NM*
There's no wingin' it on scratch projects if you want to keep things in the proper prospective. Line drawings or builders' plans are a must! *NM*
Usually, no...but here's one for a street/strip car replica I made to check on details with the owner. *PIC*
OP: PIC that didn't load on my reply *NM* *PIC*
That is some detail - ! *NM*
I don't use build sheets/ Offhand, I'm not aware of any members in the MCMA who do, either. But I know some IPMS armor and aircraft builders who do or did.
Nah, most of what I do is ad-libbed. *NM*
That's a great question Bob. When I was much younger and had way more free time I used to write down a plan for each project but these days it depends...
