I've always loved this fun series of little drag cars from the 1960s...
Not having been available since the mid-70s, the Fiat had long alluded me, until, a while back, one was sent to me by a generous fellow board member.... Having been laid up with a nasty leg infection and gout flare the past few weeks, I finally decided to dig in and just build it.
Not my cleanest work, but I'm glad to finally put it in the display case, next to the other two cars from the series...
The car was first painted with a base coat of Tamiya gold, then fade painted using Tamiya Clear Orange followed by Tamiya Clear Red... All paint was applied with simple rattle cans.
Since these kits had no plated parts, "chromed" parts were brush painted, using Fusion Firm.
Decals were sourced from a Slixx 1/64 gasser sheet
Not really realizing that it would end up mostly unseen on the finished model, I put put a little extra effort into detailing the miniscule supercharged Hemi, adding a scratch-built magneto and plug wires... I also opened the front of molded on injector scoop.
Finally, here's my little Hemi Fiat altered, along with it's Boss Willys and Ford Screamer stable mates.
I still keep hoping that the tooling for these neat little kits will turn up with Atlantis and will return to hobby stores shelves someday.
