These were two die-cast that I've held back from a collection I was asked to help sell for the estate. These were smoke infested, Nicotine invaded, grease covered, loose wheels and all of the above, even after soaking in warm soapy water they still had issues. I couldn't sell them even couldn't include them in as a "multi-buyer appreciation gift". I had them in the garage cause I couldn't stand the smell.
So I decided to take them apart and deep clean them (This was an on and off again process) but all that did on the truck is discolor the interior on the truck. I'm thinking I have way to much time though it was several weeks but still way to much time... I've got other things to do.
The 55 in one of the collections (Rick Lucas Decals) a couple of sets of decals were stuffed in a folder. Pirated the wheels and tires for some other project and this car ran Cragar's, so parts box hunting, the interior I fine detailed it with chrome pen, silver sharpie, and painted the tonneau cover, Then I scuffed the roof and painted with Testor's gold. I painted the exhaust since the pictures. I took a few liberties because I totally didn't want to take away from the OG AG car.
The 50 Ford was an even worst mess. I ended up painting the whole interior but after soaking the plastic got stained and discolored. The windows I soaked and after a little polish they came out like new. I touched up the wooden bed and I changed the tires/wheels from my parts box. I put flames on it but they didn't turn out like I wanted so I'll have to wait until I find a set that will fit better.
All in all it was a fun process and I'm glad I decided to do it. Not sure what will become of them but for now they both look great on my shelf.
