  • The firewall is part of the body structure, so it is body color. Sometimes interior color. The inner fenders and almost all of the other underhood sheet metal is semi-gloss black, since they are separate pieces. *NM*

  • Bring A Trailer and Mecum are good sources for reference photos, though you always have to keep in mind stuff may not be OEM accurate unless noted *NM*

      • You will find a lot of that era truck with all black engine compartments. Or with the top half of the firewall painted body color, and below the big seam painted black. But that isn't how they came off the assembly line. "Reference" photos are kind of hard to authenticate. *NM*
        • It’s probably similar to how you hardly ever see a “restored” old truck with a painted wood bed floor (black on GM, body colour on Fords, Dodge ?). People like the way varnished wood looks, so many end up like that. *NM*
