I’m not sure being a perfectionist is the issue, I think it’s the way they make the tooling. If they’re not using the factory blueprints, or 3d scanning these days, the model won’t look right. AMT sure got the new tool…..

AMT sure got the new tool ‘70 Monte Carlo done right. It was even better than the original.

I never like the way the front grill/bumper fit on the originals and the upper drip rail area near the roof had major problems.

The ‘66 Nova was done well. The ‘70 Chevelle that was back-dated from the old ‘72 was retooled accurately too.. The front headlight bezels and grill on the original ‘70 Chevelle promo/kit looked a little wonky.

It seems they were able to pull it off on those cars so something that is “good enough” is surprising when it came to the ‘68 RR.
