• New build. 1969 hemi roadrunner. I used the Johan 1969 rr body and interior and combined them with the AMT 1968 rr chassis, suspensions and engine. I painted the body 1968 Plymouth code J Ember Gold. I didn't notice until final assembly, that the oil pan got crooked. *PICS*

    • Thank you. I love the Johan 69 rr body. I refuse to build the AMT 68 rr because the rear quarter panels are hideous. They aren't even close to being correct. I really wish that Round2 would fix the rear quarters on the 68 rr. *NM*
      • Scott...your build looks great bu I'm not a late 60's Mopar expert, I've got the AMT 68 Plymouth Millenium H/top & the AMT 69 GTX Convertible & both rear 1/4's seem the same as the JoHan body........I like to learn so what or where is the issue with the AMT kits?. *NM*
      • Haven’t looked at them in a long time, but I recall that the front side vent window detail was terrible on the AMT. The grille was shallow as was the dashboard. Overall useable in a pinch but disappointing when compared to the JoHan. IMHO. There were other things too,
        • Tim Boyd teed this one up a while back - he had a good A/B/C comparison of 1:1, JoHan and AMT
          • As a knowledgeable and respected poster once typed, the perfect model isn’t an exact replica of a 1:1 hit by a shrink ray, but a carefully massaged version that has the light hit it in all the right ways, so that the small version looks the same as the 1:1,
            • Correct on all counts - I think we all have a 'kink' somewhere in the hobby
              • Well, since they know how to clone with great results, they could just clone an old Johan rr and be done with it. Or, do a new tool, but that gets into the $$$ game like you mentioned. I think cloning would probably be the best financial option. *NM*
                • I think someone has "cloned" the Johan bodies in resin. I have a couple '70 Road Runners in the stash in resin. Put them next to the horrible Monogram '70. What a drastic difference! *NM*
            • I’m not sure being a perfectionist is the issue, I think it’s the way they make the tooling. If they’re not using the factory blueprints, or 3d scanning these days, the model won’t look right. AMT sure got the new tool…..

  • Looks great! Reminds me of my great uncle’s ‘69 that I used to sometimes ride around in back in the ‘70’s. Since Round 2 likes to retool body’s, maybe they can retool their ‘68 RR body to look more accurate like the Johan. *NM*
