I could probably built the AMT RR OOB and not flinch at any of it, it would be close and I'd be fine. I'd probably obsess over something that had nothing to do with the wheelwells ... like the air cleaner or the right color of body overspray and sound deadener

Then, if I tried to do the old Revell '69 Mach 1 OOB , well, that would be what we used to call a "two bagger..." and since it is a family board, I'll leave it right there.

To the point of the OP - it is all a matter of priorities at R2 whether or not the RR body gets 'fixed' or not to the point where it could be unhesitatingly recommended.

Sitting on the porch here in Hooterville, it looks like a fresh pair of slides would do the trick for the quarters, assuming that the wheelwell shape and flange are part of the outer vs the core.

That said, quantifying the incremental sales to justify the investment would be hard... and that money would come from something else in the pipeline that would have as much or more impact on the hobby.

To wrap it up - my vote is to take a good hard look at the possiblity. The rest of the kit is quite good, I do not recall much, if any complaning about how the REST went together, and it is the go-to for bashing a JoHan or MPC B-body (heck, R2 did it with the Super Bee...) With fresh box art in petty blue with the redlines and bottlecap covers.... dunno how it could miss.
