Bill Geary did this kit, encountered similar issues - he had / has a quick tutuorial on Fotki (???) of how to fit the windshield (Interior Color Chart Inside)

But, given the general accuracy of the kit, it is worth the climb to build it up.

Moby copied some R2 homework on this one from their '62 Catalina SD, and I believe there is some good parts interchange if the builder is of a mind (NASCAR bits to a '62 from the Joe Weatherly car...custom from AMT to the Moby...)

That said, like any kit of this complexity from the era while CAD was feeling its way along, test fitting is crucial, perhaps looking at a 'pre build' if you could land a less expensive / open box / clearance tag kit.

Also a shout out to the MCW suggestion box: The lovely tri-color interiors from the era really call out for a color 'bundle' of exterior+interior colors.
