• Hey guys, I'm attempting to remove the seats and dash from an '82 Cavalier promo to get it painted for an upgrade project for a friend. I've been trying mineral spirits but it doesn't seem to be loosening the factory adhesive. Any other ideas? *NM*
  • The stuff they used (possibly MEK) was applied in quantity too, probably by someone who had the hang of it by the time that one got made. You might have to resort to cutting the parts out, or looking for kit parts *NM*

      • You're probably too far along, but one way of doing it might be to separate the entire interior floor, and leave the seats attached to it *NM*
      • That’s what I’ve always done, carefully cut the floor under the seats and keep trimming the inside perimeter of the seats until I can break them loose. *NM*
  • Bob I know this sounds crazy.... Get some Bondene liquid glue brush it on the joints and within seconds the Bondene eats the old glue enough to get whatever it is out. Now you may have to work the x-acto a little bit but I'm telling you it has never failed me. *NM*
