I am still in the very early stages of this model. It is based on the AMT 1957 Chrysler 300C kit.
I have built up the chassis and frame all of which will be painted flat black for simplicity. The chassis is not yet ready for paint as I haven't finished all of the fit work for the engine. It is from the custom 300 kit which features a lowered configuration.
The engine I have chosen is the flathead, straight 6 from the eternal AMT 1941 Plymouth kit. In order to assure correct positioning I have grafted the transmission from the base kit to the engine. I am still working on the induction system so the engine/trans unit is not ready for paint. I will be using the turbo equipment from the MPC 1982 Toyota Supra kit. It will all have to be reconfigured and adapted to fit the chosen engine.
The interior is going to be mostly from the box although I am adding a floor shifter and I am still evaluating custom steering wheels.
I still have a really long way to go here but I know where I am going with this. Now, I realize that nobody would make such an engine swap on a real 1957 Chrysler 300C as it wouldn't really make much sense but this is a custom so I have a wide latitude here. I have been wanting to use this engine in a build for a long time and this is where it is going to go. (Yes, the flathead six was still being used in some Mopar cars in 1957 although not this specific application obviously).
