Might want to look at a quality acrylic thinner purchase, and make sure you have an airbrush that can bust up the pigments, but the spoon testing sure seems promising.

If you get tired of the usuals in the Testors or Tamiya racks, and you are comfortable / patient with experimenting, this would be a great solution.
