• Just finished. One of my all time favorite dream cars. 1971 Pontiac GT-37 painted Quezal Gold with red and black stripes and black interior. Unfortunately, the resin hood is severely warped along the front edge. I thought that I had it fixed, but it bounced back. .... *PICS*

  • Well, I like it... I feel your pain about the hood. I've had several resin hoods warp after the model was finished. In some instances several years later. *NM*
  • Nice build Scott......I'm ignorant of GMs of that era, what was the resin kit based on? & is the '71 hood that different from the original plastic donor that it can't be modified(tho' if you need 6 copies then thats an issue too). *NM*
    • Hi Andy. I took a 1972 GTO body and cut off the front bumper/grill area. The resin parts are to convert to a Lemans: the header panel, grill, valance, headlight buckets and hood. Non of those resin parts were ever kitted. Someone made masters and made resin parts from them
      • So, the plastic donor is the MPC/AMT '72 GTO that only has the twin scooped hood & the '71 T37 used a flat non scooped hood & different front clip......I understand now......I think....lol.....you've done a good job with the repair so far. *NM*
      • Something I read years ago in SAE--after reworking the hood to your satisfaction, pour some RTV to make a mold of it, and then cast your hood in resin!

  • I like to put parts like that in my dehydrator for a couple hours. When they come out, I can set them on the car in their intended position, push them into shape and let them cool. If I want a faster set, I'll run compressed air over them to cool. *NM*
