I believe there is still a good resin body available for anyone who wants to do a Fairlane (vs. the Torino)
In Response To: New build. Bobby Allison 1970-71 Torino. I know that he raced a standard Torino/Fairlane body, but the only body available is the sportsroof/fastback. I did the best that I could in way of separating the red and gold colors. I can only find 2 pics of his car....... *PICS* .. ()

The "Fairlane" roof is the Montego upper with the Torino lower.

At one time, Motor City Resin made it; Jeff said it took him about an hour to do the roof swap. IIRC, it was right after the Cyclone had been re-released by MK.

There was substantial embarassement at the Glass House in Deerburn when it was revealed the snazzy new body was functionally a parachute at speed.

Incredibly, even at the peak of Ford racing, the approved surface model did not spend a second in the wind tunnel. The Fairlane Club of America (FCA) website had the whole "who-shot-John" story, but I haven't seen it in a while.
