I did some body work on a 60 Thunderbird when I was about 14 or 15, and it had an in car 45 rpm record player....

The turntable faced downward, with the
record clipped onto the bottom. The tone arm/needle was spring loaded (imagine the wear on the record!). The car mainly sat in the driveway (I was too young to drive it), so I never got to road test it. The 45 in the car was the Four Seasons "Big Girls Don't Cry". Sounded pretty good back in the day!
