Spotlight Hobbies

Hi, Bob! I agree that their kits are impressive. But they have overdone it in some ways. Little tiny parts that have to be glued in place that otherwise could have been made part of the larger one. THAT is frustrating to say the least!

I can't imagine the number of sprues that would be in a 1/25 or 1/24 kit! The box would have to be humungous! Here's the D-7 as of a couple of days ago. Inside the track frames are springs and other parts that will never be seen. The same with all of the linkage that will be under the operator's floorboards. See those white pieces? Those are replacements for little parts that were so fragile they broke when I was taking them off the sprues. They also included some photoetched parts that are so small and flimsy they are nearly impossible to work with. Long thin brass strips that are linkages to the carburetor for the pony engine and the injectors for the diesel. When I get it done I'll post some pics of it along with the 3D printed D-7 I did a year and a half ago.
