I knew of a fellow student who swiped our junior high's copy of the October 1976 Motor Trend! *PIC*

He thought that if he ripped the cover off and threw away, he'd be "in the clear" regarding if the issue was stolen from the library, as he believed that the ONLY thing tying the magazine to the library...was the address label on the cover! (I didn't talk to him about it. I'm just conjecturing here...) He tore it off, and tossed it out the school bus window.

Hmmm. I would've just peeled the subscriber label off..

I worked in my high school library during most of my freshman year (last minute notice that I couldn't take Spanish class, and I didn't have any other ideas then for an elective). Libraries tended to stamp the library name in ink, on various pages throughout their magazines.

Hmm...an earlier recollection of the incident 'says' it was actually the January '77 issue (with the Mercury Cougar on the cover. The school was in Hawaii where my dad was stationed. We left in December '76) he took, I couldn't easily find a postable image of that issue. LOL
