A while back, I bought a built AMT '53 Studebaker funny car. Nice spray can paint, three of the four wheels broken off. Rear wheels were easy: just replace the brake units. Fortunately the king pin boss on the one broken end of the front axle was intact. Filed the rest of the axle stub flat, then drilled the center of it for the pin. A piece of Evergreen styrene rod that fit the hole in the wheel likewise got drilled. A short piece of straight pin joined the new stub and old axle. The old Harbor Freight digital caliper comes in handy to get the right drill bit. I just buy some cheap pin vises and mandrels to hold frequently used bits: straight pins, certain sizes of music wire, ignition wire, and so on. Beats wearing out aluminum pin rises by changing bits: once you put a bigger drill bit in, the smaller ones aren't a good fit anymore...
