The cohort that sits down to read a story is shrinking daily.
CA is a terrific document, but it cannot be easy at age 42 not to be retreading stories about the same old cars.
If you take a stroll through the local Target (or Meijer, as we have here in SoHa) its clear the new magazine format is to devote an entire issue to one subject that bullseyes a specific group, versus a cross section of topics written to appeal to a number of people and interests. As a publisher, it simplifies life a great deal to put an issue devoted to "Taylor Swift World Tour" or "Cheap Keto Eating" or "Labradoodles" that don't really have an expiration date.
Cynically, I'd say it is the result of every adult now having infinite access to anything they want, which has the effect of undermining or eliminating the idea of incidental learning and the curiostiy to pursue it.
It can't be long before we see this come to our hobby as the "Moebuis Truck Issue" ...
