...they were just looking for something to try it on. The first Chevy II had the bolt-on forward bulkhead as well as the single-leaf rear springs, two other experimental ideas, but was otherwise a quick crib of the Ford Falcon. The bolt-on subframe worked great in testing for the first-generation Camaro and '68 Nova which were being developed together. I might be wrong though, but didn't the Toronado also have a stub frame in front (and maybe another one out back)?
