Depends on how you define “subframe”. The “frame rails” on Mopars were welded to the unitized body structure. The “K frame” was essentially an engine cradle that bolted on from below. In the model car world, we would want to paint the K frame black and the
other frame rails body colour. The transmission crossmember would be black as well, because it’s a bolt on piece that supports the rear of the transmission.
