The advantage of the approach is a steel subframe / K member taking a lot of the load and road input.
The GM front subframe further simplifies the production, very much a tab A / slot B process, but over time, it creates a 'piano hinge' effect where the assembly bolts to the floor just under the dash.
Each of the systems is drastically improved with subframe connectors that spread the load and input.
