The kits that were reissued were things like the "flower power" cars ("Peony Pony' '66 Mustang coupe, etc.), the "border" series ("Havana Banana" '65 Olds, etc.), the odd drag cars (Edsel funny car, etc.), and the Modified Stockers ('66 Impala, etc.).
One interesting turn of events was MPC getting the contracts to do dealer promos for Ford and GM, instead of AMT, which had done them for years..
As I said, I'm not sure where or when I heard this. Was it Dennis Doty in Model Car Journal? Scale Auto Enthusiast? Maybe one of the Challenge Publishing mags (Scale Modeler, Auto Modeler).
Don't recall someone writing a book on AMT history. I've got copies of histories on Revell and Monogram, and there is an Aurora history out there (Hmm...do I have that one, too?), but don't remember on on AMT or MPC.
