I was trying my best to build a 58 Belvedere. Three bodies later and I had to call it quits. The final body, which I got from the Hon. Mr Steve Milberry Esq. I painted it with Vallejo off white. Clearcoated, painted the gold on the trim, then BMF. Then I re-clearcoated it. The paint yellowed. I could have lived with it, but the hood yellowed differently. I took great pains to match the hood to the fenders. I even blended the top surface of it all prior to second clearing. Just yuck.
So here we are. What do you do with two Belvedere kits and three bodies? Chuck the bodies and keep the rest. I severed the frames so I could build one extended frame. I'm using the engine from the Belvedere. It'll have a mildly industrial look to it. The frame is allowing me to lower the truck almost to the rockers. Those beautiful 60/40 bench seats will look right at home.
I printed the cab and hood a long time ago. Found them in a box. They had warped a little but a hot water bath and cold water shock took that right out. I printed out a service bed so I could enter the truck in multiple catergories. I'm trying to go to our local show equipped for as many divisions as possible. I think this qualifies for Chrysler, Truck and commercial. Not sure if I can cross enter it like that but I'll get entered into two out of three for sure. I printed out the short bed service box cause it just looks fun. I wish I had CN Rail decals for this thing. Anyways, I'll show it to you guys when it's done.
The cab was a pretty successful print. Very little shift. I had printed it three times and threw two of them out. I could print the bed better, but it took a lot of resin and a lot of time, so I'll use it even with it's flaws.
