3D printed bodies

Hey man, I congratulate you on your ability to keep on going with the priming and sanding. You either really love that body style or just don’t know how to give up. I have two resin printers. I hate printed bodies. The shear amount of work that has to go into them to get them to look good is just too much. I’m familiar with that Lark. It’s a good file for printing. However, in my opinion that’s where the good ends. Whether it’s filament or resin, both have their draw backs. I’ve been printing for seven years now and still have yet to print a good body. With resin you get those ridiculous Z shifts in the sides. I’ve tried all angles, all support structures, all layer heights, all speeds and I still am not satisfied. I can usually get trucks to come out “ok” but they still require a pile of correction once done. All of my rockers tend to have a “sweep” to them as the print supports never seem to hold as well as I want. I don’t know.

I’ve recently promised myself I’ll stick to plastic bodies going forward, but then the idea of a 1969 Dodge crew cab short bed service truck came to mind. Find that in plastic!

Oh well. The printer is printing it now. My opinion and my ability to resist are two very different beasts.

Keep modelling and have fun.
