I seem to recall reading somewhere that some people used light bulb filaments. Does that sound familiar to you guys or did I dream that? *NM*

I'm still not happy with my throttle return springs. I can't get the coils spaced equally. How do you guys get even spacing? *NM*

Scott......only time I've done this was yrs ago & I used a pin as the arbor & wound the VERY thin, stiff wire around the pin...tok a few goes but I was able to have the wire wound so that it looked o/k, model is long gone & took no pics........sorry. *NM*
Get some watch springs. They are perfect *NM*
That's a good suggestion. I have looked everywhere using my computer and can't find anything. Where do you buy watch springs ? I don't have a clue. *NM*
Any watch repair shop has them. I bought a bunch of them ages ago. They are easier to work with than just about anything. *NM*

No, Bob, it would work. But they are brittle, as I recall, so you'd have to bevery careful. Oh, where would we get them today? I don't think have an incandescent bulb in my house anymore! *NM*
Wind the wire around miniature sheet metal screws. They have a straight shank. Wood screws have a tapered shank--won't work. Then unwind the wire..--not wood screws--the tapered shank *NM*
Also MCG offers them. *NM*
find a suitable size mandrel to wrap the wire around. I usually use the shank of a small drill bit. Wrap the wire tightly around the bit, leaving a suitable amount of straight wire at each end
Would any of these work? (See link) *NM* *LINK*
Yes, the .025" diameter ones would work. Only thing is I don't know how you'd ever form the loop or hook on the end(s). Might be hard to work with. Sproing!!! Instant vacuum cleaner fodder. *NM*
Jeweler's pliers? *NM*
For me, most small parts are vacuum cleaner fodder, or those mysterious little things that go “crunch” underfoot. *NM*
