Piert Tower Update

Been working on the five ladder sections and the platform of late. Each one of these pieces took a lot of time to produce. First the outline of each one was printed on paper and taped to a piece of 0.020 sheet stock. The openings were roughed out with the dremel and cutting wheel. Then the fine tuning was done with a small, rotary cutter. Then the stiffeners were added all to one side and the top. When that was finished the stiffeners were added to the opposite side. Cleanup followed that.
With these done, the width of each section was determined by the spacing of the one under it. Strip stock was glued to each end and then all of the rungs and bracing was added.

The photo above shows the bed section with the lower middle section and middle sections laid inside.
This next photo shows how the lower middle, middle and upper middle sections fit inside the bed section. They are roughed in at this point.

The photo below shows all five sections in place with the beginning of the platform at the end. It is attached to the last ladder section known as the fly section.

The entire ladder build has been lowered down so that it lies flat with the top of the body. The platform has opening doors which were removed for this shot.

And here are the five ladder sections beginning with the bed section on the left and the fly section to the right. Doors have been added to the platform.

The next hurdle will be to combine all of the sections so that they slide. The actual operation and design is far more complicated that can be produced with decent effect. So much will be viewed but will not be operational. Not only is the ladder raised by hydraulics and the platform kept level by hydraulics, there is a complete pulley and cable system that extends each interior section so that they all move at once. More than I care to accomplish.
