to add to Bob's tips, start with the least aggressive grit. Unless your paint is an absolute mess, start with 3600 or 4000. Remember that coarser grits basically leave deeper scratches, which will have to be removed

with the next pad. I would suggest starting with the roof, and get a feel for how things are progressing. If you find for example that the 4000 grit isn't leveling the finish you can always go to the 3600 or even 3200, and then work you way back through the finer grits
