Thanks for posting this wide variety of entries. Paint polishing comment.

As a group of models, I found these photos of entries outstanding because they show a wide range of both subject matter and build quality. Some, with lower levels of craftsmanship, make up for that with creative ideas that are deserving of a closer look. Others, that could almost be confused with actual vehicles, are inspiring exanples of what can be achieved. Many of the photos show entries having glossy body paint with a significant orange peeled surface. Often, that problem isn't apparent in normal room lighting until there is glare from a lamp. For decades I was afraid to polish paint even though I had a set of graduated pads from about 2400 grit to 12,000. The fear of failure was huge because it meant sanding an otherwise good paint job down to a uniform dullness then laboriously re-sanding it with ever finer pads back to glossiness...without "burning through" the color to reveal primer or plastic underneath. The prudent thing would be to practice on a junk item but I didn't. One time, I was building an entry for an online contest with a deadline that was rapidly approaching. My paint job was too rough to hide even with careful photography or a heavy coat of clear gloss. I took the risk and polished the paint. It took a couple of hours of careful work but the result was excellent. Wowee...it was smoother and shinier than I had ever gotten with spraying alone. I've polished just about every model since then.
