At McQueen's insitence, the music cuts the second the Charger drops the hammer - music is over
In Response To: Haha… cool factoids. I guess I have seen the chase scenes so many times that the music has ingrained itself to the point that I can’t separate the two… with appropriate engine noises, dubbed in double clutching, shredding tires… the whole bit. Cinematic art, really *NM* ()

He hated the cliche of scoring music to the chase scenes, which dated to the 40s.

The whole picture is very stark and real, which saves it in my opinion, cos otherwise the plot is unfathomable without serious study.
