According to a reliable witness, the first street-driven Boss 429 engine was installed in a barf-green 4-door Custom 500 that was not being used for anything else.

(As noted in many histories, the original plan was to install it in the Galaxie; creating the Mustang 429 was a Knudsen / planning brainchild.)
