So, now that contest season is upon us, Opinions on if a Jeep Gladiator pickup would be eligible for any "Best Mopar" awards that may be handed out? I'm thinking yes but interested in what everyone else thinks. *NM*
Personally as a Mopar Moron, having owned 1940 Dodges since 1969 anything other than Pymouth,Dodge,DeSoto,Chrysler,Imperial or Fargo would not be classed as a Mopar by me....lol.....but as I'm not a contest judge nor contest organiser my thoughts are worth zip......lol. *NM*
It probably depends upon the opinions of the people putting on the show.
Sorry Mark, I got the name wrong. I was thinking of the Revell Jeep Honcho pickup. They were originally called Gladiator, that's what I was thinking of. *NM*
Ah got it. IMHO it would still meet the criteria, though I could also understand opposing arguments. *NM*
As a side note,
MOPAR by Marriage?? My AMC's are welcome at Mopar meets..... *NM*
I don’t associate my cars with the Mopar brand , they acquired what remained of AMC in 1987, the Eagle wagon was still around but it was discontinued in 1988. Mopar as a corp has done nothing to support the original AMC brand other then pit their trademark to AMC branded
Agreed.....they wanted JEEP and have sunk it........even sold off AM General, which was a $$ maker.
Didn't AMC sell AM General? I thought they had to, due to the high % of Renault involvement in AMC *NM*
Possible......old man fuzzy memories are common for me, *NM*
And AM General was knocking out Postal Jeeps in parts of the old Studebaker factories in South Bend, IIRC
There IS a book on the history of AM General out there. Written by noted military vehicle historian David Doyle, it covers everything from the Studebaker roots, to 2021. *LINK* *PIC*
I did see that noted AMC historian Patrick Foster also wrote a book on AM General. *PIC*
Nah. Jeep still strong *NM*
I know the Fiat based units are junk.......my mechanic HATES seeing one pull in his shop. *NM*
Jeep is starting to lose long-time buyers. One guy I used to work with was one of them. I'm seeing a lot of Broncos on the roads, those sales are coming from somewhere *NM*
What's Detroit without some Chrysler / Jeep drama?
Whole market is down right now, forget your favorite targets *NM*
