I can probably guess, but I do sometimes wonder why there seemed to be a lot of duplication of subject matter back then. Makes it kind of confusing with reissues today, like who made this kit, which one was better, etc.
There wasn't licensing back then. If someone wanted to make a kit, they did it *NM*
It’s bad that I am having a hard time remembering a world where licensing and branding didn’t dominate everything, but that makes sense as an explanation. *NM*
There would still be rights/usage for identifiable people and properties... but there was a long spell when having your model on a shelf was considered free advertising
