Just built the Revell 2010 Chi Town Hustler & started the Revell 2011 Jungle Jim Vega, interesting how 2 kits have such different assembly formats, both AA/FC roughly from the same era, the Hustler seems to be an easier build...or is it just me.......lol. *NM*
The 1:1 cars were about five years apart, pretty much a lifetime the way things were changing. The Hustler had a unique chassis, only two of which were built *NM*
The Chi-Town Hustler kit was a newly tooled kit in 2010, while the Jungle Jim kit was a reissue of a 1970's era kit. *NM*
Not sure which version the JJ kit is, but the Seventies Revell funnies were massively retooled at some point...
I've found that, even with the retooled chassis, the reissued 70's Revell funny car kits are still considerably more fiddly than the newly tooled Chitown Hustler and Hawaiian kits, which, IMHO, benefitted from lessons learned from Monogram's excellent 80's funny car kits. *NM*
Yep, just been playing with the JJ front axle/radius rods & doing battle with the various "cockpit" levers & pedals........what fun......lol., *NM*
Main things Revell should have fixed are the front axle and wheels...
Yep, very fine scale detailed but so fiddlely, reminded me of the suspension parts in the Roth show cars & Orange Crate, wonderfully fine moldings but oh so a PITA to assemble.....lol....but i'm a model builder so ........lol. *NM*
Thanks Marty & Mark, the JJ kit being a reissue from the 1970's explains it, after this I've got the MPC Ramcharger Challenger & Kallita Mustang & AMT Hemi Under Glass & Nicholson 62 Bel Air......varoom!!!....lol. *NM*
