C/D entered their Kit Car in the 24 in '76. They had some mechanical issue pop up, and the car went to the garage. When the work was finished, the NASCAR driver had left the track for his hotel, because he didn't think the problem would be resolved before the race ended...or maybe he didn't want to race the car anymore...vaguely recall it might've been Buddy Baker (but his wikipedia page doesn't list an appearance in the 24...maybe it was someone else?).
Cotton Owens built the car, maybe? Cotton helped Brock Yates with the "Cannonball Challenger" a few years prior.
The car was all white until the Daytona effort, when the hood and the tops of the front fenders were painted black. And stock headlights were added to the stock Dart grill up front for the night racing.
Someday, I'll build a scale model of that car using the AMT kit,,,and I have a donor MPC Dart Sport body for the stock nose.
