…had a separate piece for torsion bars and the torsion bar mount. It was molded in blue with the body and Hemi & Wedge engine pieces. Other than that, it’s the same front and rear suspensions as the other MPC stock cars.
The Salvino’s chassis is a partial clone of the MPC kit chassis, with a few improvements. It has a rounded, but very oversized transmission tunnel.
The Polar Lights chassis is a bit more prototypical of a Mopar chassis from that era. Also, the trans tunnel is huge on that one, too. The engraving is a little amateurish, but most of the bits look the part.
I have been wanting to bash the PL chassis with some of the bits from the Salvino’s chassis and some other prime bits. I have one going, with parts from back when kits were relatively inexpensive. That’s a big project though.
A shorter take might be to take the chassis from the AMT ‘71 Charger, and blend in some MPC, Salvino’s or PL parts. I might try that first in order to actually get one done ;)
