I don't really have any first hand knowledge, so the best that I can do is relay what I've been told by folks that claim to know what happened... *PIC*

The Meltdown Drags started as a small gathering of guys and gals who wanted to have fun drag racing the way it used to be. The first one took place during a Byron Dragway test n tune Saturday.... No advertising, no hype. Just a dozen and a half old school gasses, altered, and f.e.d.s.

Through social media word got out.... the magazines caught wind of it... more and more cars showed up... the crowds got huge... everything seemed great.

Then the other shoe dropped.... The group that started it all came to realize that they were so busy running the show, that they weren't able to actually race anymore. It turned into a job instead of being fun.

Add to that, that the track was wanting a bigger and bigger cut of date and enough was enough. 2018 was the biggest and final Meltdown..... Well, almost.

A revival was announced at the 2021 Glory Days nostalgia Drags (Byron Dragway's "replacement" for the Meltdown, it was a pale shadow at best)... Sadly the revival was canceled shortly after.

This brings us to the present... If you want to experience the Meltdown Drags live and in person, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
