Solid colors and flats were carryover, and I think the candies were too.
What I'd love to find is the chip folder that had the new colors in it. As noted earlier, I think some of the new colors were reflective (#swidt) of contemporary paint trends and may not have been far from 1:1 automotive formulations. They were pretty well saturated colors, and applied correctly would be standouts today.
Can't believe but it was over a decade ago, I hit an estate sale in my neighborhood - literally, two blocks from my own house - that had a corner of the basement filled with vintage kits. As it turned out the sellers were the family of a toy and hobby manufcacturer's rep for AMT MPC and a few others in the Midwest. So the son of the family got all the expired samples... like living in a hobby shop.
Among the items from the haul was an unbuilt, but beautifully painted '69 Galaxie in the AMT Surf Green (close to Verdoro Green/Dark Ivy) Don't recall my exact circumstance, but I managed to chip the paint to the white styrene, no way to spot it in save for landing a vintage can to drain with the trusty Canmaster 3000. It was an early base/clear job, and I've wanted to try to replicate is for some time now. Oh well...
