  • MPC liked to use bodies as many times as possible, as body tooling cost a lot. They tried the idea again in 1970 ("Fast Pack") without the cast metal chassis *NM*
    • A fragementation kit - put all that inertia into a styrene body and you have a recipe for a very long face on a 10-year-old *NM*
      • Was it molded from a more resilient mix of plastic? My older brother had one when we were kids and the only thing I remember was the front bumper beak getting pushed in a bit. Maybe my memory is not so accurate, but I don’t recall the body breaking at all. *NM*

          • I think the Dyno Racers were molded in a different plastic. There was a Firebird and a Corvette as I recall...
            • I seem to recall that the plastic felt different, less brittle and more robust (?) than a regular model kit. So that would make sense.
              • I'd imagine the numerous alterations to MPC tooling over the years is a considerable source of migraines to the folks over at Lionel/Round 2 *NM*

              • Grand Prix would be Fast Pack, not Dyno Racer *NM*
