    • FWIW, the Falcon chassis is not very good at all....but with some modifications it fits one of the AMT Nascar chassis'
      • The Chevelle's chassis is "flat" and a bit short. The Falcon is modified from the kit piece...

        • I like it! Around here they usually didn’t run the big cars but there were some low buck racers built from them. Lots more “run what ya brung” back in those days. So not out of the realm of possibility.
          • Someone once told be that the two I built were "too pretty". All I could say was that they were conceivably fresh out of the shop, and the car owners had a lot of pride in workmanship. Plus, I don't think I'd know how to build a model any other way.
            • Yours look like first day of the season cars, or the ones that toured the local car shows before the seasons started. There's no wrong answer, I like to build them both ways... fresh day 1 cars or mid season. Some teams kept them up, some just kept them running.
        • Depending on the track, they raced pretty much anything. I've got a CD of period photos from the track in my area, some guy ran a first-gen Buick Riviera *NM*

        • The Torino was restored to stock too, but has been run as the Modified Stocker at least once since then *NM*
          • I was curious about that. I recall looking at one of the “newer” Torino bodies (about 10-15 yrs ago) and noting the shadow of the repaired wheel arches on the inside of the body. I figured that the Torino would never be released as the MS again, but there it was… *NM*
            • Read a rumor years ago that the Torino fastback actually has the sides of the AMT '68 Torino CONVERTIBLE tool in it now.

              • I'd look pretty hard at that - the stock Cobra fastback available now or recently is kinda 'meh' for the wheelwells in engraving and symmetry
        • Re: Eight of the nine… and the 53 Ford pickup and trailer. I'm only missing the GTO, 64 Galaxie, and the Chevelle, the "Shovelle" is on the shelf at the LHS, might nab it next week. *NM*
          • I don’t have the pickup/trailer in MS guise, but do have the Diamond In The Rough version. I have all the other MS versions except the GTO. *NM*
            • The GTO is an interesting one - the roll cage in the kit came from the '64 LeMans convert / GTO HT
              • The Olds didn't include any racing parts in the 3-in-1 versions; but rather stock, and two custom versions *NM*
                • The customs were ugly, and uglier IMO
                  • Sacrilege! The Olds was a great kit in the original version. It's a shame there was no convertible annual, and the Olds would have been a great Countdown series reissue *NM*

  • I love all the positive discussion surrounding the Modified Stocker line, by the way. So often they are caught up in negative posts grieving about what was lost in modifying these tools. Yet they have survived all these years and are still selling. Thanks for the posts! *NM*

        • That would be great. My first car was a red '67 Falcon Sports Coupe. Parents also had a '67 Futura wagon that I often drove, and even put band gear in the back! *NM*

  • Crime Dog built a nice '65 Fairlane Modified Stocker ! But he forgot to mention that the kit has 2 complete engines (289 and '390?). Plaim racing interior, dash, Chassis with no exhaust molded in, Tow Bar, under hood intake for duel carbs. Also there was 2 versions of this
    • I think if you look at the stock number on the box, the R2 "Retro Deluxe" is the version with the higher number - which should be the version that had some gates opened for annual parts
