FWIW, I toss the caps then take a fine point marker and write the color on the top, around the nozzle. But my shelves aren't real close together. *NM*

The shelves I store my spray paints on are quite close together, so I'm thinking of storing spray cans on their side, so I can more easily read the color labels on the tops. Are there drawbacks to doing this? thanks. *NM*

No expert, but I think the cans have a mark or indicator for the best locaiton and direction to spray from the can. I believe it means the pickup tube is toward that side so when you are painting with the can at an angle the tube is still in the paint if it is not
