Let's not get into why the offshoot was sprung...

The name of that group was the North Texas Model Car BUILDERS. There was one MCMA member who "joined" the NTMCB, but he hadn't built a model car since he was a kid in the '60s/'70s. He collected promos, and bought the odd kit here and there, but rarely if ever, built any models. He would show off old photos of what he built, taken back then, and claimed some medical issue for why he didn't build more recently.

One NTMCB member (who probably was NOT an MCMA member at all...) once or twice asked him, "Why are you here? This club is for model car BUILDERS, not 'collectors'." Didn't get a straight answer from him...except for the 'medical reason'.
