• The Demon kit is out now? Glad I 'caught up' this weekend with my kit purchases at an IPMS contest. Got a Revell "007' '71 Mustang, AMT's '66 Mustang fastback, the MPC '68 Coronet convertible, and Revell's Aston Martin '007' DB5.
• Thanks for the Demon kit guys! it came really fast. Now that I have it I'm comparing it to the 71 Duster kit, and I think I can put the Duster frame, engine and interior into that Demon body without too much problems. They are, after all, the same car. (PICS)
  • Now, if somebody wanted to have some real fun, take the 71 Duster kit, combine it with the 71 Demon kit, then take the Hemi stuff from the Revell 68 Dart kit and have a real screaming machine. The revell kit comes woth the correct Dana rear axle and springs. *NM*
    • Of course now adays, people are stuffing the new 6.2 Hemis in them. You could probable take one from the new Charger AMT has out. Hum.... *NM*

• What would be the best Chassis to use under a 67 MPC Bonnie? *NM*
  • AMT 67 Impala but you will have to lengthen it a bit. *NM*
  • The ‘70 Bonneville will give you the correct 119” wheelbase. *NM*
  • ‘65-‘70 Impala’s had the 119” wheelbase. ‘67 or ‘70 would be easiest to find. *NM*
  • 2X on the comment on the '70 Bonneville - same kit, same parts and not so expensive even now *NM*
  • 3X on the 70 Bonneville. I used those kits to restore both my 68 and 69 Bonnevilles. Also I used a 69 Firebird single 4bbl intake, carb & aircleaner to replace the tri-power, and a resin automatic to replace the 4 speed.
    • Getting hard to find and somewhat pricey. Fire Chief would be the easiest and cheapest, but maybe not the most correct, although the WB is the same. *NM*
      • The wheelbase is not the same. 65-70 Impalas were 119", Bonnevilles were 124" in 65-68 and 125" in 69-70. This scales to about 0.2". MPC used the same chassis 66-70, so the 70 is a direct replacement. Our host has a 65 Bonneville for sale which should work also *NM*

    • The MPC 32 is indeed a Panel truck as 29 to 34 all used the car sheet metal from the doors forward been a member of the Vintage Chevrolet club of America for 30 + years. My dad has been a member 50+ years *NM*
    • I think it's supposed to be a "panel delivery" like this pic but it doesn't really match. It's kinda like a "panel delivery" crossed with a "sedan delivery" but not exactly either. *PIC*
      • Looking at both the model & 1:1 Panel Delivery it looks like MPC did the Panel Delivery body but shortened it by a scale 18-24" between the rear fender & back of the body,the 2 beltline molds appear the same,also the rear doors,Panel Deliveries were on the light truck frame. *NM*
        • Also the character lines on the panel area don't match any pics I've seen and the 2 side character lines don't have the kick up at the rear corners the actual trucks have. Not great for a replica stock build but fine for a rod. *NM*
      • MPC didn't choose the best bodies for that kit. A roadster would have been better than the cabriolet, and a coupe would have been a better choice than the non-stock panel *NM*
        • Agreed. I have a rebuilder Cabriolet I think I'll convert to a pickup, modifying the cab and bed from an AMT '34 Ford pickup. Won't be %100 stock body but close enough for a street rod. *NM*
  • My reference info Spotlight 2014 Art Anderson mentioned that the MPC '32 Chevrolet Panel may have been modeled after a Commissioned Custom built Sedan Delivery. I can scan and post here if that is requested. *NM*

  • Bob, my understanding is that box store has it's own ships and doesn't rely on regular channels for delivery from overseas so they get product sooner but I don't know how true that is. *NM*

      • IMHO too much overlap with the Revell/Monogram versions, which are more detailed (and better proportioned IMHO) kits. The 1960 El Camino hasn't been around since... I dunno... sometime in the mid to late 1960s as a Craftsman style kit? The '60 Wagon would be nice also. *NM*
        • El Camino was never a Craftsman kit. Last out 1961, listed as a Styline kit for '62 but never appeared *NM*

        • Round2 reissues the ‘73 revised to ‘71 Mustang and 007 version. Revell does the same thing with their new tool. The Revell Impala’s are decent, but lack correct wheel well shape (too square on the ‘60) and they’re cut too high into the body. I’ll take the AMT. *NM*
          • I would buy the AMT versions if they were reissued. Just saying that with all the other dead tool choices that they have, the Impalas would probably be way down on the list due to product overlap and the associated business case. Just an opinion, nothing more. *NM*

• I got the spinning blue circle for a while, then the text of the joke finally popped up but no pic came with it. There is a board limitation in size when you post a pic file from your computer, 20KB - tiny. Pics have to have a URL from the net to be larger. That may be it. *NM*
