New build third time over

I have built the Army Class 325 pumper twice already, one of which went to Hawaii and the other to Belgium. So this version is being built for the collection of military truck builds that are on my shelves. Here are the first two.

The Hawaii truck is now in Texas with the family of the WW II veteran that it was built for. He passed away last July at the age of 100. In real life a rig looking like this would have been built by Maxim Motors, notable for the rounded housings for the booster reels in back of the cab.

This is the second one that went to Belgium and is owned by a person who has a full sized restored Class 325. Other builders like Howe Fire Trucks also contributed. Note the different markings also, which are on the real Belgium rig.
Here is the beginning of the third truck starting with several castings, a 1941 Chevy cab and engine, and some brass.

The first two rigs have brass frames but the strip stock and channel stock is hard to come by so I switched to using the front of the kit frame and adapting it to the style used for the Chevrolet 1.5 ton trucks of the day. The springs are made of 1/8" brass strip stock with pieces of flattened solder for the clips. Brass stock was also used to solder the grill guard and the first of two steering knuckles for the front end. The other parts are resin castings made from molds prepared for the the first build. The hood adapts directly to the kit cowl. Hood sides and running boards were also cast as were the tires and wheels. The cab doors will be cut free and will be hinged. The aluminum turning in the left rear is the master for the Barton American pump that will be mounted in front of the radiator. A casting will be made from the existing mold.
Lots to do but taking time to do a few little things slightly different this time around.
